Welsh Football League Division One
Weather - Dry / Cold In the fabulous and palatial surroundings of the Brewery Field, Ponty looked to continue their impressive run against a Bridgend Town side who were themselves fighting hard to get clear of the relegation zone. In a first half that saw both sides play creative football the chances made and missed were even until Bridgend seized on some indecision to take the lead and go into the half-time break 1-0 up. Ponty started the second half strongly and were clearly the better side. Bridgend still created some chances but as Ponty took more and more control of the game an equalizer was looking more and more likely. Mark Nappieralla duly delivered with some 10 minutes of the game left to level the score at 1-1. Ponty could now sense victory and pressed time after time looking for the goal that would secure all 3 points. Ponty wee awarded a penalty with only moments of the game remaining after Andrew Stokes was brought down in the box. The referee had no hesitation in awarding the spot kick which was duly dispatched by Dale Otten to make the score 2-1 and secure the 3 points for Ponty. Ponty's good run continues and survival is looking more of a probability than a possibility. Ponty will be tested again against table toppers Caldicott Town on Saturday 1st May - lets hope the winning run can continue. Minge of the match was awarded to Ben Hopkins with man of the Match going to Dale Otten. An added bonus in the video link below is the post match celebrations !
