Welsh Football League Division One
Weather - Dry, warm and muggy Ponty were determined to build on the performance last Saturday against league leaders Goytre and for long periods of this game they looked the more likely to score. Jon Coates was outstanding again and was influencing play whenever in possession. Chances came at either end during a first half delayed because of the late arrival of a match official but both teams went into the half time break relatively satisfied with a 0-0 draw. Ponty again started the second half on top and created a couple of chance and outplayed Cambrian and Clydach for long periods. It was one of those games that is often seen that if the team on top do not take advantage of their dominance by scoring then its odds on that during a breakaway by the opposition that they will score. this is what happened but with a further twist it took a cruel deflection of a shot late on to beat the Town goalie Ben. Ponty tried to get back into the game but with the light fading alarmingly quickly due to the delayed kick-off, Town conceded a rather harsh penalty which was put away to make the score 0-2. There was not way back for Ponty now and the last couple of minutes were played out before the whistle went on a spirited yet unproductive performance in terms of points gained.
