Welsh Football League Division One
Weather - Sunny and dry Once again, our thanks go to Afan Lido for hosting this game for Pontardawe Town. Ponty hosted Dinas Powys after playing them away last weekend and the Monday night game against Taffs Well also at the Marston's Stadium. Ponty failed to come away with any points from these two games so were keen to claim another 3 points and climb further up the table. The first half saw chances for both sides but ended 0-0. The second half started with a bang as straight from the kick-off Ponty were 1-0 down. This woke Ponty up and within a couple of minutes, Nappa won a penalty after his shirt had been pulled back in the box. Nappa stepped up to take the kick but the keeper made a saved the effort. Ponty continued to press and Carl played a great ball into an unmarked Nappa who calmly slotted the ball away to get Ponty level at 1-1. Ponty were now playing the better football and a cross from the right saw an unmarked Jon Coates slot the ball under the keeper to make it 2-1. Ponty pressed again and following a defensive mix up in the Powys back line Nappa lobbed the advancing keeper with about 5 minutes to go to make the game safe at 3-1 Ponty. A good win and another 3 points. Ponty now face Ton Pentre on Monday night who are sure to be up for the fight to avoid relegation. Watch the match highlights and goal action here
