Welsh Football League Division One
Weather - Dry, warm and muggy The first team returned home to commence a very busy period and played extremely well in a game that flowed from start to finish and was a great advert for the Welsh Football League From the start both sides played attacking football but it was United who looked the more likely to score and had some great chances early on. They were thwarted by an excellent save from Ben Hopkins, and some strong defending, especially from Steven Cox, but finally the breakthrough came when a pin point cross from the right was smartly headed home by Chris Summers on 30 minutes. Town pressed hard for the equaliser but the half ended with the score 1-0 to the visitors. The second half belonged to Town as the introduction of Jon Coates made a great difference and the penetration on both flanks, from Coates and Otten on the left and Napperialla on the right, was starting to trouble the visitors. Chances came and went and just as it began to look like Town were out of luck the referee gave a somewhat harsh decision against United's Scott Kenyon who was deemed to have handled the ball on the line and was promptly given a red card. The resulting penalty, taken by Nappieralla, did not give the home team a deserved equaliser following a smart save down to his left by Chris Curtis. After 82 minutes Town got the goal their efforts deserved and it was after a smart move down the right involving Robbie Daniels and Nappieralla who delivered a great cross which was put away by Carl Owen. Despite immense pressure United held out and the points were shared. Watch all of the match action and goal here....
