Ponty entertained
Briton Ferry Llansawel in Reserve Division West on Saturday 27th
February 2010 at the Recreation Ground, determined to put the horror
show in the defeat at Britton Ferry Llansawel just before Christmas
behind them.
Ponty got off to a bright start and raced to a 3-0
lead within the first 15 minutes thanks to an opening goal from Ianto
and then a brace from Arwel Rees. The visitors pulled one goal back to
make it 3-1 to Ponty before James Pickup restored the three goal
advantage to make it 4-1 to Ponty at the half-time break.
Ponty
came out for the second half with the same determination as they showed
during the early first half. This determination saw Ryan Penny setup
Rhys Whitelock for a pile driver into the top left hand corner within
two minutes of the restart to make it 5-1 to Ponty. Ponty continued to
stretch the Ferry defence and Gareth Lewis made it 6-1 with a neat lob
(some would argue a cross !!). In the dieing minutes, Ponty conceded a
penalty when Deano brought down the striker which was put away from the
spot kick to make it a little more respectable for Ferry with the game
finishing with an emphatic 6-2 win for Ponty
