Ponty took the short trip to Cwmamman on Saturday
6th February to play their local rivals who managed to nick some points
off Ponty last season with two draws.
Ponty started well with Liam
James netting after a couple of minutes with a great volley. Ponty
continued to dominate play and created numerous chances. Arwel Rees put
Ponty ahead further on 15 minutes with another well taken goal. Ponty
dominated play with Ianto, Trystan Edwards and Christian Evans
outstanding in midfield. On the stroke of half-time Ponty were
awarded a penalty after Arwel Rees was cynically brought down in the
box. Liam James calmly put the spot kick away to send Ponty into the
half-time break a very deserved 3-0 up.
Ponty continued at the
start of the second half where they left off with the impressive Luke
Evans getting the first of his brace after being left with a tap in from
Arwel Rees's square ball to him in the box. Ponty were now in total
command and were playing with great style on a difficult pitch. Luke
Evans got his second and Ponty's fifth from a free kick to the back post
from Gareth Govier which he calmly slotted away. Ponty were only
hindered by some very poor and strange referring decisions otherwise the
score could have been a lot more. The result was beyond doubt when Rob
Fulford was sent off for fighting and Ponty saw out the rest of the game
for a very impressive win at their local rivals.
