Pitch - sticky but OK
Our thanks go to Afan Lido for agreeing to host this
home match for Ponty against Garden Village.
On what turned out to be a great night for
Pontardawe, both teams produced some good football on a difficult pitch.
Ponty took the lead from an unfortunate own goal went into the half time
break 1-0 up. Liam James put Ponty two up with a great volley just after
the restart but Village soon stuck back with a superb strike to make it
2-1. Rhys Whitlock then got Ponty's third following a great run. Village
did not lie down and came close to reducing the deficit on a couple of
occasions - they eventually got back into the game following a spot kick
after their striker was brought down in the box to make it 3-2. Almost
straight from the kick-off Ponty got their fourth from Chris Allan after
his shot took a deflection and beet the Village keeper. Ponty now
settled again and played some great football which eventually lead to
Chris Allen getting his second and Ponty's fifth to wrap up the game.
All in all a great win against a
good Village side who will be up there challenging for the title come
the end of the season.
